I define LSD by heart rate, not speed. Climbing a mountain or trudging
through deep sugar sand can sent the heart rate up to 100 or more even at a
walk. So I try to maintain a heart rate of between 100 and 120 for a given
set of time (say starting at 15 minutes and working up to one hour).

This usually translates to fast walking (I refuse to ride a horse with a
little itsy bitsy walk), medium trotting and easy cantering.
