Marisa--

Don't know if I put in my training schedule (not enough with my chubby girls)
before, but here goes:

Before weather gets better we go when we can, I still wouldn't hesitate to go
15-20 miles at a conservative pace and if I haul anywhere to ride it's Mt.
Diablo (better footing this time of year). I try to give mine daily turn-out
(again this time of year, usually they're turned out in a 2 acre pasture,
this time of year have to settle for driveway--which is wide and allows for
quite a bit running on firm footing if they don't mind on the roadbase
gravel).

Otherwise, Bev Tibbitts used to advocate 1-2 hours per day 3-4 days per week.
Now she conditioned on the hills. Don't recall her ever mentioning
"interval" training. Wish she were still around to ask. Walt, if you are
out there, please respond!!

On this training program Bev finished Tevis many times, and Walt won Haggin
Cup and has also completed numerous times. At last report he was President
or similar title of Western States Trail Foundation which puts on the ride.

I guess it all boils down to quality mileage rather than a set number of
miles per week.

Just my opinion...

Sue

P.S. Wish I had more hills nearby.
