If there are no apperant physical problems and he does it on both feet it
is probably laziness. When my mare is trotting along on hard, even ground
on a loose rein, she will do this. But on uneven ground or collected or
moving faster she won't. I have my farrier square off the toes on the back
shoes and keep the angles up to get faster break over and that seems to
help some. If she is not lame and this doesn't cause her to stumble, then
I wouldn't worry.
