Same thing here! And people don't have the brains to go and use the
shooting range! I ride on BLM (public) land, and apparently people can go
shoot anywhere they please without any controls at all. One time I had my
dog with me, and some idiot shot right at us (luckily my horse is very used
to gunshots). However, it scared the E-B-G-B's out of my dog and next thing
you know he was nowhere to be seen (I was very scared that he had been
shot). I hunted and looked all over for him and finally had to give up and
come home to get help to go find him. Well, when I got home there was
Murphy on the front porch, exhausted, panting, and still shaking. So now I
don't even take my dogs with me anymore for fear of what could happen (he
could have been hit by a car on his way running home).

In fact, I was out riding yesterday on BLM land and noticed a brand new sign
- has anybody else seen this? "Big Game Hunting Area", it was letting
hunters know where they could and could not go. I was wondering why there
were so many gunshots being fired all around us that day. I never knew we
were in a hunting area before. That just made my day. What a stupid thing
- we have herds of wild horses and I just know these idiots will be out
shooting at them (again). We often run across horse skeletons that have
obviously been shot. (does anybody even care?) Whenever I call BLM they
just tell me that there is too much area for them to monitor it all (so
basically go away and stop bothering them). Does anybody know anything
about BLM lands being designated as hunting areas? This is something I've
never seen before and have been riding these areas for years.

This is another good reason to get a cell phone.
