After reading all the posts decided I should send this to the whole board.
Sorry it's a few days late, working with a new computer and modem!

My husband insisted I start carrying a cell phone a few years ago. We bought
a Motorola flip phone which I've found works as well as the bag phones most
of the time. Anyway, it's also tiny and our thought was that I need it on my
person since it was for emergencies. I carry mine in a fanny pack which
works pretty well. The theory is that if I get dumped in the middle of
nowhere, at least I'll be able to call rather than the horse taking off down
the trail with my means of communication.

Just a thought..

By the way, I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and there are several offers
currently available for free portable phones if you sign up for a year. If I
remember correctly when we bought mine with extra battery, cig lighter
adapter and charger, it was around $400.
