As long as y'all are talking about training....

I'm no stranger to riding in the rain, dark, snow, ice, and mud. But I
have a problem. We've had WEEKS of rain here in Oregon. Followed by a
freeze and more rain. Consequently the ground is very loose and
slippery. The area where I ride is VERY hilly, with lots of -very
steep- hills that are already questionable. So, I'm not too hot on
riding them when they're this slippery. Any suggestions other
than just waiting till things dry out some??? I was really
shooting for a 50 in early spring. We still get in 2-3 hours, 2-3
times a week at the areana, with lots of cantering and trotting
(she works up a good sweat). But we haven't been able to have a -good-
12+ mile ride in over a month, and the last 20-25 we did was at the end
of the summer. Maybe I'll have to give up on a 50 in early spring and
wait till late spring/ early summer.... Anybody in PNER have a
suggestion for a good first 50?

Thanks!
Marisa
