I have a question for all of you that have done a 100 miler. That is my
goal someday- I want to complete a 100 on both of my horses. Here goes:
How many miles did you ride before you felt "ready" (or do you ever?) to do
a hundred? Same goes for your horse - how much experience & miles did your
horse have? I know that there are a lot of variables - but I'm just trying
to find out what works for the majority of people.

My "plan" is to complete at least 500 miles doing 50 milers, and then maybe
when my horse is about 7 yrs. old attempt our first 100 -- probably a two
day event or maybe even try a 75. Do any of you have any suggestions for a
specific ride for somebody for their first 100? I'm in the West Region. Is
7 years old a good age for the horse to do a 100 for the first time? (that
will have given him three solid years of slow conditioning)

Any other advice or suggestions on what it takes to get ready for something
like a 100 mile ride. I try my hardest to keep in shape - but I know I have
a long way to go.

Thanks for the info - Karen
