I have always hated being dictated to...hate being told to wear a seatbelt ot
helmet. Since the introduction of the Trozel (a helmet I can wear without
discomfort), I have been using one on rides.

I, too, am an accomplished horsewoman...having done dressage, three-day
eventing, foxhunting, open jumping...not to mention endurance. I rarely get
dumped and always manage to fall unharmed.

But, the accident you describe was truely an act of god. Even the best
horseman cannot avoid accidents like that one. As they say, you never know
when your number is up. The older I get, the wiser I get. It is indeed
unfortunate that we have to wait for age to creep up on us to get wiser.

My deepest sympathies to your friends and family.
