Hello. I use an equine insurance co. that has a very good reputation, is
easy and friendly to deal with, and their rates are excellent. Call Jim
Brown at 1-800-786-7629. You can get full mortality with colic
insurance, that covers everything. You can also get just specified
perils and options, and that covers accidents, theft, and other acts of
god, etc. That is only 1% of insured price. It depends on the breed of
horse what the other is. I currently pay around 3%, actually a little
less, for the Arabs and 1/2 Arabs. The name of the place is Livestock
Insurance, Inc. They will be glad to speak with you, and give you a
quote about their rates. A friend of mine had to file a claim with them,
and they were very good about paying. Some companies are not so fast or
nearly as reasonable. I have no problem insuring my endurance horses
with them. They are happier to insure them as working horses than as
just breeding stock. Good luck
