Hi everyone!
I just got back from the Carolina (JD Fountain's) ride. I am having results
posted to me and will put them on here or forward them as soon as I can get
'em! (they may be coming by snail)
It was a great ride, and it didn't rain (YAY!) for once (I seem to have this
attraction for rain at rides). In my particular ride, (the 30) we had 40
starters and 37 finishers, and I was 33. AND, my horse had awesome
parameters (but I do think the judges were easier graders than some of the
other rides I have been to.) They did have 2 or three tie ups, reason????

I rode with Teddy and MIke and at the seven mile check Mike had to pull his
horse (she was one that tied up). The ride was great other wise except for
at the very end, I was heading down the last 5 miles to home base, and I was
moseying along, enjoying the scenery. Well, these 2 kids had a malamute that
decided my stallion's rear end was a good target to sniff or bite-don't know
which because all of a sudden Aly was airborn and kicking and going left. I
went to the right and hit the ground pretty good. Well, he left town and I
couldn't get up for a few minutes and of course the kids weren't bright
enough to get help even though I hollered some! The first thing I asked was
which way did the horse go and the next thing I said was "TIE THAT DOG UP
BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS HURT!!!!"Geez! Anyway, I started walking down the
trail in search of... and this very nice rider came galloping up with my
pony in tow!

First of all, he and my tack were in one piece, and second of
all, he was being NICE. I told the lady THANK YOU VERY MUCH for saving my
rear and did she know he was a stallion? She said, "If he is then he's an
awfull ynice one!" Then she handed him over and took off. Just about then my
husband was heading back to camp so he pulled up behind me. He helped me get
back on and off we went. Anyway, it could have been anyone who helped me (I
am sending her a thank you note because she DIDN"T have to turn around to do
that) and I am glad that she did. Man I love endurance people.

At any rate I had a blast and the only thing that really bothered me was
that dog. The kids did tie up the dog, but I think Aly wrenched his back
when he exploded because he had had A's all day on his back but when we got
back into camp he had a C at the vet check for back. I guess he must have
galloped pretty hard to catch all the way up with that lady. SHe was several
minutes in front of me. And he was already somewhat tired. She did say he
was trotting as fast as her horse. (She had something the size of a TB)
Sorry this was so long, I will get results posted as SOON as I get them.

Promise.
Gwen
