My wife's A-rab, Jordy, is much calmer and much more easy going than either
of my walkers. He is calm and rock solid stable on the trail. While he
will spook it is not very often and the spooks are not very serious - a
little shying and he is still green. I too think the breed gets undesired
bad name.

Jordy is an ex halter horse. We got him becuase the breeder went broke
when she and her husband were divorced - something about her spending time
in the stall with her trainer - who wasn't her husband. Jordy was gelded
(at five) and sold as a pleasure horse. He was a basket case from the
"halter treatment" and the woman who bought him was a new rider - so it
didn't work and Jordy got a bad rap. We bought him about 15 months ago and
threw him out in the pasture for six months. He had an attitude but my
mares soon performed an attitude adjustment on him.

He became more mellow as time went on. After about six months we sent him
to a "trainer" - who trail rode him daily in the forest for six weeks.
Kathy has been riding him regularly for the past nine months and he is now
a laid back cool dude - his true personality.
