I have pads available called Equitex manufactured by Polsit (Italy). They
are made of latex. Very shock and pressure resistant and pleasant for
the horse's back. They do breath because of the open structure and the
special cover soaks the horse's sweat and transports it to the upper
surface.
They come in all kinds of shapes (saddle, navajo, saddleblanket) and
many different colours. It's also possible to have them as a gib or wedge
for a better positioning of the saddle.
They are machine washable (no spin-dry).
I don't know whether they are (already) available in the States but they
are becoming very populair here among all equestrian people. If anybody
is interested, I will try to find out who's representing them in the States.
