[endurance] Foam Saddle Pads

Hi All!

I have a question about foam saddle pads, and I'd like opinions please.....

I ride in an english saddle, and we are just graduating to the 25 mile
level. I now use a double sided fleece pad (I just bought a new one that
is a little "cushier"), and a navajo blanket double thickness. I have
been looking at foam type pads to use instead of my navajo blanket.

Is open cell or closed cell better? I have heard of the skito pads, do
they come in english shape? Miller makes a Therapeutic Roma Pro-Tek pad,
does anyone use one? Or how about a Toklat open cell foam pad? And do
you use a cover over any of these? Does the foam hold in heat badly?

My mare has not had any significant back problems. She just seemed a
little sore after the 25 mile ride we did, and I think that I should
add some cushioning.

Thanks Alot!!
Marisa
