Hi Nick - I agree with you that it *sounds* great to win real money(!!!!)
with your successful endurance mount, however, there's no such thing as a
free lunch, now is there? The last time I checked, the nomination fee for a
horse (not in utero) was $3500, and the horse needed to have a parent that
was a nominated sire or dam. (If you nominate a foal in utero the fee is a
reasonable $500, I believe.) For many of us, this is more than we paid for
the horse in the first place!! I do know some people who have a gelding who
was doing great things on the class 'A' halter show circuit, decided to
nominate him, spent the bucks after he won something like reserve champion
gelding at the regionals, then went on to win nothing at Canadian and US
Nationals. Oh well, money probably *not* well spent...

To know for sure if this is the thing for you to do, give IAHA a call, and
Good Luck!

Lynne
