[endurance] Slypner Shoes

In response to all the discussion of Slypner shoes, thought you might
like our opinion. We used Slypner shoes on Cody for the OD. As Truman
said, training in Florida does not provide any hard surfaces to ride on
unless you can find an empty road somewhere (which doesn't exist here!)
So for us to take Cody to rocky terrain, we needed to provide some kind
of padding. Carlos did a lot of research before deciding on Slypner.

The end result was that they surpassed our expectations. They provided
excellent shock absorption and traction. The rubber inserts can quickly
and easily be changed. At the 66 mile check we replaced one of the
inserts that was showing wear in 3 minutes.

The shoes come with a video that will explain to the farrier exactly how
to fit the shoes. They can't be extensively shaped, but there is some
ability to bend them in strategic places. Insist that the farrier watch
the video before fitting the shoes!

Between settings we routinely check the inserts and change them ourselves
if needed. We are so happy with them we have even put them on our son's
horse, Hickory - who is our up and coming youngster team! (Hickory is 4,
Daniel is 9...you can't blame a mother for bragging!!!)

Our farrier has only good things to say about the Slypner's. His only
complaint is that he loses money with them! We don't have to reset the
horses as often, and when he does it takes a bit longer to put on
Slypner's. At least he's an honest farrier!

Just our opinion!
