[endurance] my version of Pt.Reyes trip

I wanted to send a brief description of the Pt. Reyes trip and thank
all the rec.equestrian folk and endurance newsgroup folk who made
the trip.

We could have not have more perfect weather. Sunny, without being
hot. The fog seemed to lift by 9:30 morning.

For me, some of the highlights included the first day ride with
Tammy up Greenpicker-a short but fun ride. The ride with Linda
Cowles was interesting. Kadense is proof you can cross a horse with
a cat-I have never seen an equine as fast on his feet. I'm sure if
you dropped him upside down he would land on his feet! We all had a
spectacular spook at some pigs in the bushes-Kadense must have
whirrled 3 times in a second and when he stopped Linda was still
there! We moved out at the trot up to Glen Camp and cantered side
by side up STewart trail-it was a blast.

I really had fun riding behind Nick Warhol and his wife Judy Long
and comparing heart rates with Nick. We also had a really fun
canter up Randall Trail, which should have taken the yah-yah's out
of Warpaint, but didn't. It mellowed out my mare.

Sunday I started out with NIck and Judy again, and ended up with two
ladies riding out of Five brooks, one of whom turned out to be
Denise O Connor who posts occasionally. Then Tammy and I had
another nice canter up Stewart trail (you can tell I like to slow
canter!)

We had a really fun Saturday night around our new high-tech 360
degree moveable fire pit (send me an SASE and $20 and I will tell
you how to get one). Sallijan Snyder and S.O. Ron were there, as
well as KIm Krattinger and Kris Troxel, Nick and Judy, Leslie M. and
Tammy S, and Helen Harvey. Hope I am not missing anyone.

My mare did really well. One pretty bad spook when a lady came
out of the bathroom with a small dog. The lady wasn't supposed to
have the dog there, and had sort of been hiding it. All of us saw
the dog, but when we tried to describe it, it varied from a small
black dog, a medium grey dog, a beagle sort of dog, to a small
German Shepard sort of dog. All any one would agree on was that
the dog had tipped down ears. But we all decided the lady must have
brouught 5 dogs. When the lady came out of the bathroom it was
confirmed, as my mare certainly saw all five dogs and they were all
snarling at her!

Oh, there was the incident Tammy, Leslie, Carol, Nick and Judy and I
had up at the reservoir with the nude sunbather, but maybe one of
you can tell that story.

My only regret was I didn't get to ride with Helen, Kris, Kim, or
Sallijan, so we will have to do this again. I also didn't hear much
details of their rides, so maybe you guys can update us!

Karen
