G'day from WA, I have recently joined the endurance mailing list to learn more about the world endurance scene. I have been following the discussion on gate-into-hold - how do you guy's do it? with interest. Like Nikki in New South Wales we here in Western Australia are working out how to incorporate the hold gate into our rides.

My wife, Linda, is a keen endurance rider and after five years of competative riding she is hoping to ride at the World Equestrian Games in Dublin in 1998. We are also planning to visit relatives in Pennsylvania at the same time and would like to see a US endurance ride in action. Can you let me know what the US ride calander in this area is likely to be and when the major rides are.

We would appreciate any information on the vetting system used for the FEI rides such as the WEG and the system used in the US.

We would also appreciate any information on a problem we have with one of our endurance prospects. The six year old mare has "Shelly" hooves which means under hard work the hooves break up especially the quarters.

One final request has anybody any experience of a good saddle to use on a short backed arab. One we have heard of is the Modified McClennan Saddle, sold by The McClellan Saddle Co., Bisbee, in Arizona.
