Thanks for the hauling tips

Thanks for all the input I got in hauling long distances. Our trip went
really well except for the first day. We overheated going to
Reno, the trailer got a flat tire, and when we stopped for the night one of
the horses pulled back before we got her untied and cut her forhead. The
next morning she got 18 stitches.
But other than that the horses drank, ate and even pee'd in the trailer (and
they are all mares). They had no problem with dehydration but they did lose
a little weight (which two of them needed to). They seemed calm every time
we stopped and happy to get their carrots.
We spent the night in Battle Mtn. at the fairgrounds. They had several pipe
corrals, which worked out great. Thanks for the suggestion, I would have
never thought of fairgrounds or KOA campgrounds. The weather was pleasant and
not too hot, even through Nevada. Utah and Idaho had a couple of lightening
storms that were spectacular and Waldo Lake in OR had perfect weather even at
5000ft. Our total milage was 2148 miles. I don't know if I'd do it again
but the horses were a big hit with all of the cousins and gave them lots of
rides.
Thanks again :-), Tammy
