It is convention that the bike riders get below the trail
when they can do so safely. The reason for this is that
dangers, in the form of mountain lions and such, tend to
be above the horse. Thus the horses seem to think that
what lays above is dangerous and what lays below is alright.
My horses don't seem to care either way.

The most important thing when horse and bike meet is to talk
to riders. The horse rider should say hello, and tell the
bike rider where they prefer the bike to go. The bike rider
should say hello and tell the horse they are not a big
monster. :-)

When in doubt on either side, stop horse and bike and talk
about the best way to pass. And smile and be nice to each
other.
