Fireworks ride

Congratulations and thanks to Diane Luternauer, Steve Moran and all the other
people from the Santa Cruz County Horseman's Association who worked their
tails off to put on the Fireworks ride last weekend. It was a wonderful
event. There must have been two hundred horses. The scenery was gorgeous
and the weather was perfect. Law enforcement officers staffed every road
crossing and there were volunteers at nearly every trail junction.

We managed to get lost near the end for a long time but had a great time
nevertheless. I don't think my horse Remington really cares when we finish
or even where we go. We do these limited distance rides for conditioning
anyway, so a few extra miles in the redwoods can't hurt.

I only saw @ signs on my horse and two others. My new internet riding
buddies, Kathy and Gabrielle, marked their horses, Magnum and Dixie, beneath
their ride numbers. It was exciting when we recognized each other on the
trail. I think other folks thought my horse was marked with Icelandic runes
or something. Did anyone else from this group attend the ride and mark his
or her horse?
