Due to the current outbreak of Vesicular Stomatitis in Colorado, New Mexico
and Arizona,
The Mountain Region "Three Peaks Endurance Ride" will have certina
requirements that must be met before a horse will be allowed to participate
in the Pre-ride Vet Check.
All horses from Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona must have a current health
certificate from a licenced veterinarian with the following statement:

"Vesicular Stomatitis has not been diagnosed within 10 miles
of the premisis of origin within the last 30 days. I have
examined the premisis of origin and have found no signs of
Vesicular Stomatitis."

This statement must be on the health certificate or you will not be allowed to
participate. Both the New Mexico and colorado State Veterinarian's Offices
have been
consulted on this matter. As of 7-19-95 the Colorado State Vet sees no
reason to
canel this event. It is strongly recommended that you take measures to
prevent insect
bites to your horses.

If the ride area becomes quarantined, the ride will be cancelled. Please
call any of
the Phone numbers below within the week prior to the ride date of Aug. 12,
1995 to
determine if the ride has been cancelled. At this time there are no
reported cases of
Vesicular Stomatitis in the San Luis Valley.

Please help everyone have an enfoyable ride by remembering your health
certificates and we regret any inconvenience that this has caused.

For further information contact ride management.
