Hi all
I am new to this list.
I live in Champaign, IL and am spending the summer in Madison, WI. I ride
dressge and hunt seat. I have been snooping around the endurance rider's
home page on WWW, and it sounds like a very interesting and wonderful
sport. I have a few questions that I am hoping one of you might be able to
answer. Please feel free to answer this off-line, so as not to bore
experienced members with basic facts. Please use the following email
address:

Here then are my questions:

1. Is endurance riding always done as a competitive sport and kind of
race, or do its enthusiasts also include people who simply want to go one
some leasurly but very long rides?
2. In a competitive situation, what pace is used during the race?
3. What breeds of horse are usually used?
4. Are most people who do this English or Western riders or both?
5. Do you have to own your own horse to do this, or are there barns that
lease out horses for endurance riders?
6. Are there any of yo out there from Illinois or Wisconsins who do this
sport that I might be able to hook up with?

Thank you very much for your reply ...

Ingrid
