Gosh if I had to wait until my ARAB is cool before drinking from a
stream, splashing with cool water or eating on the trail during an
endurance ride I'd be in big trouble. Avoid things like apples as
the ferment poorly, but good hydration is demanded for your horse's
overall good health and performance. Walking him out before watering is
impossible and he's simply used to taking available food and water while
at work.

Lot's of activity that we get involved in is against the given norm.
I've always made sure not to get Rebel wet in the heavy muscle tissue on
the back (during or immediately after work) due to advise and just what's
always been told to me. Still studies were made in regard to the same in
preparation for the Atlanta Olympic X-T competition. Sanctioned by the
USCTA & published in either Equus or PH last year, they found that this
didn't cause cramping as had long been a given in fit X-T horses.
