Karen,

As far as the hind legs pointing out, in my experience too much is better
than too little, but either extreme is bad. The hind legs _must_ land
outside the front legs when extending, otherwise they interfere. Too far
out, though, causes not only wasted motion but also some very large
rotational forces which tend to decrease the horse's longevity.

Eye color would have very little to do with the medical field if there were
no sun. Unfortunately, at least in Southern California, the sun causes many
eye problems which are then exacerbated by the flies. (IMHO flies do not
seem predisposed for any particular eye color, but once the eye is damaged,
watch out!) Blue eyes / Pink eyelids are affected more than pigmented
eyes/eyelids, much in the same way a blue-eyed blond cannot usually stay in
the sun as long as an olive-skin dark-haired person. In our area fly masks
are used as much as sunglasses for the horses as they are for fly protection.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Mike
