I am with Lisa on this subject. If my young horse starts getting all tense, and in the flight mode, I will get off him and start leading him by what ever he is scared off, and that seems to calm him down , and I also dont think he associates him being scared, with me getting off him. It seems to have worked on all my horses and I was never badly hurt . I am also at that age , where I dont have to proof anything to anybody anymore. Just wanna be save, sound and ride until I am not able to get on my horse anymore.
