RE: [RC] Riding a 50 or 25. - paul

Well, if you have done 25's before, then you know the drill. I did LD's when I 
first got into the sport because 25 miles seemed like a long way to ride. Once 
I did it a few times, we stepped up and did a 50. Later we did our first 100  
with only 6 fifties under our belts. 

With my new horse, we didn't get to do any LD's while he was 4. So  last year, 
we went and did a 55 two weeks after he turned 5 years old.  He did great. As 
long as your horse is sound and fit, and you know what to do, then just go for 
it. Just don't try to win first place or race him all day:-)
