Re: [RC] International Specialized saddle Proplem - Lori BertolucciI do use half chaps. I have for years. Mine are heavier than most and I love them. The heat doesn't' bother me that much and they are warm for winter riding. Instead of rubbing, it is more like pressure. And I see it more with my Easy Ride stirrups than with my old Trail Techs. My new horse has a big trot and the Easy Ride stirrups just work better on him than the Trail Techs. I try to keep my foot as far out of the stirrup as possible, but it doesn't seem to help. they are hot or not. I don't particularly remember being bothered by heat, but
then, it's not very hot here at home. I have done rides in hot
places a few times and I can't remember being bothered by heat from half-chaps.
I am particularly sensitive to skin abrasions and I wouldn't get on a horse
without my half-chaps (and my helmet.) I, too, prefer riding an English style
saddle.
