Re: [RC] Australian stats - Katrina MosshammerActually in Olin's presentation he did sort the fatalities into several different categories, i.e. horses that were entered and those that weren't or accidents like busting out of elec. pens etc. and he also had them by region and other categories, such as age, sex, horse mileage, etc. as well. So he showed us the ratio's using the total numbers and then the ratios using the different categories. It really was a very informative presentation.Katrina Mosshammer (AERC # 5763) "Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only that the cat died nobly." - Arnold Edinborough -------------------------------------------------- From: "Michael Maul" <mmaul@xxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 21, 2010 1:23 PM To: "ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [RC] Australian stats In reaponse to:"However, when we questioned whether this had any effect on equine fatalities, nobody seemed to have a clue. So...What is the number of endurance related equine fatalities in Australia over the past 10 years? How many starts over the past 10 years? What are the number of FEI endurance related fatalities and starts over the past 10 years?. Once we can get these ratios and then look at them next to our numbers we will have a better sense of the data pro or con for this proposed change." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
