[RC] Thrush, scratches & sole hardener - Naomi PrestonRegarding thrush, my horses are lucky to be in a somewhat
arid climate, and normally no thrush problems. However, when the
weather turns wet and they're in mud, some of them do get thrush.
Also, due to the arid climate, their soles are usually rock hard.
However, early in the season before their feet have toughened up, I like to
use a sold hardener on them. I've found one product that works
for thrush, scratches and as a sole hardener, Q-Foam. It is also safe
to use on wounds. In the past, I've used other thrush treatments
and sole hardeners (some homemade) that certainly do their
job, but have toxic/carcinogenic ingredients in them. I prefer not to
use these on my horses, or to get them on myself when applying.
The Q-Foam is based on an oxygen-activated formulation, that safely
deactivates and inhibits viral, fungal and bacterial infections....both
aerobic and anaerobic. It is also safe for use during
competition. For more info, go to
