Re: [RC] International Specialized saddle Proplem - Lori Bertolucci

Jonni, I took the screws out and have mine"floating". But I had the problem even when I had the screws in place. I had the stirrups set in the mid position. I felt comfortable in the saddle, the only reason I took out the screws is so my leathers were easier to work with and if I needed to adjust my stirrup length, I could pull the buckle down if need be.
I will get some covers for my leathers and see if that helps.

You can change the position of where the stirrup leathers hang, and see if that changes how they position on your shin. The leathers have three positions they can be set at. Middle, forward or back. Changing the setting might help with the rubbing. Also, it can change how you are balanced in the saddle. I found that it is more comfortable for my legs, and hips to have the stirrups in the more forward setting, where others prefer the back setting.

Flip the saddle over, pull off the fitting pad, and you will see a screw that holds the leather in position on the tree through the slop. Phillips screw driver to take it out, try another position. I replaced my screws with plastic car headliner buttons that I got at Lowe's. More flush than the screws.

A few riders just removed the screws all together, and let their leathers float in the slot through the tree, ad they find that works best for them.  One of the nice options with the Specialized Saddles is the ability to change not only the fit for the horse, but change some of the options for fit of rider.
