Re: [RC] Thrush prevention? - Beth WalkerWell, I don't do anything more than you, and I don't remember the last time my horse had a case of thrush. Caisson hasnt had a case since I bought him. I had Shadow his whole life (25 years), and I really can't remember a problem.I tend to be very bad about picking out feet. I will check them after a ride for rocks, but I don't pick them out before. My guy is in a 24x24 pipe corral. I usually put in sand before winter, as it helps considerably with the mud. Yes, I have stall mats, and I sweep them regularly so he isn't eating off sand. I'm in the San Diego area - Lakeside. The base is a silty dirt that goes to powder in the summer, and slick goo in the rain, so the sand helps with both mud and urine.
