[RC] downside - those orange boots - Dream Weaver

I think it's pretty safe to say that riders who use boots will have one (or more) come off from time to time. I have seen or been at rides where just about everybody riding in every brand of boot at one time or another has lost one. This is why riders try barefoot then go back to shoeing. Even *I* went back to shoeing when my horse Chief was totally boot challenged. I so wanted to keep him barefoot. He did great in Ground Controls and with more experience figured out how to go down the trail without being a total clod and was finally able to use boots successfully and remain barefoot permanently. He won the AERC mileage championship once wearing nailed on shoes, and once using boots over bare hooves. Shoes did work really well, barefoot and boots worked even better.

btw, I've found that losing boots is a great way to slow down my competition. If I scatter a bunch of boots and other things on the trail they'll stop to pick it up and I can get further ahead! ;-)
