Well you are lucky than or else I am really unlucky :-) My mare Ruffy has strong heat 
cycles year round and when they are the worst during the summer she will back up to a 
fence gate whatever if there are horses on the other side and stand there and kick . I am 
always worried about her hurting herself so try to keep an empty space between her and 
others during her heat cycles.Her mom was the same way , showing heat cycles even when 
bred.Ruff is boss mare of the herd and "does not play well with others" I had 
checked into spaying her but decided against it hoping she would mellow with age , so far 
no luck at age 14 . So I have learned to live with it as I do enjoy riding her .
