[RC] Mare prejudice - Keith W. Kibler

> We raise, breed, and do endurance. We currently have several horses and several of them are mares. I get calls or contacts fairly frequently from people who say, "I am absolutely not interested in mares" I dont get it. My favorite horse is a mare. I got broken ribs on a gelding a couple of months ago. That has never happened on a mare. I women we are helping came today to ride at our place with a gelding. The horse, actually both of her geldings are just a bit on the idiot side. The horse was absolutely ill behaved and she asked me to ride him. I stayed on through the bucking but did not really enjoy it. A jr we sponsored was with us on a mare and the woman whose bucker I was rodeoing on was sitting another of my sweet heart mares. I know she would simply not think of owing a mare.
> I don't get it. What is with mare prejudice?
> If you say it is because they become too weird during season, please give some personal experience because we currently have 7 mares under saddle and that simply is not our experience in the real world.
