You can call in a vet to tell for sure. Horses can be very lame from
a little scrape, but they should walk out of most of it in several
minutes if there is no underlying damage; and if it is something more
serious you might want to be aggressive with icing or
anti-inflammatories, or ..... If I'm not comfortable about something
I call in the vet -- I do realize I am fortunate to have a good job
and not have to worry about the $ to do this (sometimes I dont feel
fortunate to have the job when I'm at the office late but thats
another topic)
Grey once scraped the back of his hind leg when he slipped coming out
of a stock trailer. He thought he might have torn his leg off. He
had quite a comical look on his face when he worked up the courage to
look back at his leg which he was still holding off the ground.
However with no serious damage done, he was moving pretty sound within
several minutes.
