Actually, I thought I read that OD ride award was based on Dr. Matthew 
Mackay Smith's new vision of what endurance should be, for everybody?
"The Way We Win" concept?
It seems LD has evolved in very different directions in the various parts of 
the country. Much more so than the longer distances, although there are 
regional "flavors" there also.
Are ALL the permanent LD riders feeling so put upon, or only a very vocal 
bunch? (I say permanent, because the riders in areas who often ride both 
distances don't seem to be so upset.) Or is it just certain regions of the 
country that have a problem?
If so many riders everywhere are feeling so abused by LD's slant toward 
beginners, what kind of program do they suggest needs to be instituted to 
let people get started? A second 25 mile ride for people who aren't "real" 
25 milers? A 15 mile ride? Then what do we do when the 15 mile ride is full 
of people who have been doing it a long time, and are feeling inferior, and 
want to be able to race?
