[RC] riding in traffic - Sarah W

"The only problem here is you have to be able to get
the horse to where he can tolerate the traffic without
being dangerous and THAT is dangerous!"

I exposed my boy as a yearling, walked him in hand
along medium traveled roads. I did this thru age 2,
and by then he was nearly bombproof. Once I trusted
him under saddle, I took him out on the same road he
already knew. If there was traffic coming from
behind, I got at least 5ft off the road and turned him
to see the approaching traffic. He quickly learned
there was little harm, and is now bombproof for ANY
    type of traffic.

Sorry for replying directly to you Laura!
