Yes I remember that Far Out Forest very well - I did the 100 that day! Laid in my trailer awake all Fridy night listening to the storm howl. Thank goodness it stopped raining about 4:30. I don't think it got above 45 degrees all day long and the NW wind was howling. Then as night fell it got cold - very very cold.

We pull into the check at 90 miles and we could not find our crews. There were four of us together at the time. Truns out they were huddled in my crew cab. Someone had brought some Yukon Jack and they were in the middle of a party. We found our stuff and got the horses fed. They discovered us when I climbed on to the tail gate to get back on. I had on so many cloths I could hardly bend my legs. Than goodness it was a short hold.

I got back took care of the horse, got my sleeping bag and went into the building there and curled up by the fire and slep. I was frozen. We do call this fun, right:-).

Seems you never forget those memorable ones. Back inearly March '96, the weather was really nice so we trailered down to Florida to a ride at Doe Lake....forget the name...think T might have been helping with that one.  Rained all Friday nite and the trail around the lake disappeared...into the lake! Riders were following ribbons in water up to their horses' knees at the start.  Turned cold Saturday nite...bitter cold. The water froze in the trailer water barrel. "Wish Granted+" had been clipped and we were covering him with tarps, coats, quilts, and anything else we could find over his blanket till we got back to "warmer" weather in North Georgia!  :)

    . On top of the
mountain, we rode across a logged "clear cut". You could smell the ozone
in the air from the lightning strikes and feel your skin tingle and your
hair crackle...fastest I've EVER rode across the top of a mountain!

I remember that one....I was thinking ....Yikes here we are in the tallest spot around on steel shod horses....I pulled halfway thru it, fearing my horse was cramping from all the rain.  And of course, the trail had to be long.....
