    EQUESTRIAN ISSUES

LAST CHANCE TO HELP SAVE THE MUSTANGS
Your Help is Urgently Needed to Preserve The Wild Horse Sanctuary in
Northern California, the oldest sanctuary of its kind in the United States.
The Wild Horse Sanctuary of Shasta County is appealing for help to save a 3,860-acre property that provides refuge for hundreds of unadoptable wild horses and burros. The land is being sold by the estate following the previous landholder's death in 1998. They have until DECEMBER 31, 2002 to raise a million dollars to buy the land where more than 200 wild horses and burros roam free. The Wild Horse Sanctuary is a nonprofit, tax-exempt public foundation.

PLEASE NOTE: Arthur and Eleva Court have generously agreed to match all gifts for 2002. You can double your contribution by writing your check to A.& E. Court Nature Watch Conservancy and mailing it to:
Wild Horse Sanctuary National Appeal, P.O. Box 30, Shingletown, CA 96088-0030

    MINNESOTA HORSE RESCUE NEEDS HELP!

On November 17th, 45 starving horses were confiscated in Minnesota.
It took more than 16 trailers, and until 1:30 am to get them all out, at a cost of about $14,000.  The rescue organization desperately needs any help you can give.  They need donations.... not just money, but also hay, grain, and anything else that can help.  All donations are fully tax-deductible! They are also looking for foster homes.

    For information, contact: http://www.Mnhoovedanimalrescue.org
MN Hooved Animal Rescue, PO Box 47, Zimmerman, MN 55398; 763-856-3119

Here’s a picture of Paint/Pinto filly that the owner allegedly shot rather than have her rescued:

If you can’t help in any other way, you could contact the law enforcement official listed below and sign and/or forward the petition requesting that the owner be prosecuted to make sure that he can never harm another horse.
Please forward this information to as many horse/animal lists and friends as you can and ask them for help. Let's do our best to make sure that the person responsible for this abuse does not escape prosecution and get back any of these animals!!
