It is a nice romantic notion that the horse is the oldest living mammal and
humans the youngest - but I am skeptical.  I would love to know the
scientific reference to this claim.  As an example, opossums have been
around since the Cretaceous.  Eohippus did not appear until the lower
Eocene.
