Re: [RC] ride stories - Susan Young Casey

    Oh Paddi!
I'm rolling around laughing now. How funny.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sleeps in!

Last spring at Cougar Prowl (OK), I stayed up kinda
late visiting with my friends. One of my friends kept
forcing Black Russians on me! (I won't mention any
names, but his initials are BUD CROTHERS!)

Anyway...I woke up when the 50 milers passed my
trailer on their way out of camp! I wasn't too far
behind them; I've learned to get dressed and tack up
at the same time. Charlie Brown didn't really
appreciate it when I accidently put my bra on him but
    he got over it.

Us crazy gals were trotting down the trail when it hit
me. I've NEVER had a hang-over in my life (shut up
Larry Lewis) since I don't drink much but I sure did
that morning. Got over it in 15 miles so the rest of
    the ride was peach cobbler.

However, I digress. THAT'S not my favorite ride
    story. This is...

Same ride but several years prior. Jesse Burton was a
junior rider at the time and I was sponsoring him.
There were 6 of us up front and we were about 3 miles
    from the finish.

We were trotting down the jeep trail side-by-side and
having fun. All of a sudden, the handsome guy (better
not say his name but he lives in TX and is from
Canada) next to me says, "Susan, your eyes are so
pretty and your mouth...I could just kiss it. As a
matter of fact, I believe I will."

    And he DID!!!!

    At a TROT!!!

    It wasn't a peck, either.

I was quiet for the next 1/2 mile or so. Jesse was
behind us and the men in front...I was the only girl
in the group (NOT grope) were cracking up. Finally, I
turned to DH and said, "Can I have do-overs, please?"

To this day, Jesse teases me about kissing men on the
trail. I can't think of a better place to kiss a man, though!

and win the race!" - Charles Dickens (1812-1870)
