[RC] IAHA ride aka speed? - John & Sue Greenall

Howard..sometimes from you comes a gem of a statement...
" Let's not get into name calling here. IF they trained hard, left
camp the day after the ride with a healthy horse, who can say that
    speed is harming their horse?"
And here is a BIG point about what speed does to our horses...how
many times can they do it? And can they stay healthy (ie sound)
doing it? There are the expectional animals that can do it again
and again (Cash, Rio, Redman) and there are the ones that we see
    come and go.

    Howard..again...
"I've given up trying to figure out what the horse is capable of doing.
They're so darn magical to me"
    You are so right!!!

    Then Sandy said
"Was it wrong that he videoed the horses when they looked
exhausted..should he have cut that part out of
the video? Don't think so! He simply showed it as it happened...and
then its up to each individual's interpretation."

Here is the danger of publicizing our sport on TV, "interpretation".
If "one of our own" was concerned about how the horses looked,
imagine how the uneducated masses viewed it??? Following the
widely publicized deaths of two horses at the WEG, we, as
endurance riders, need to realize that we don't look so good to the
rest of the equestrian poplulation, let alone some PETA group.
We all need to keep that in mind at the next ride we attend!
