RE: [RC] Trot vs Extended Canter (Posting Diagonals) - Val Nicoson

    >>>if you focus on the weaker side, which always seems
to be the left diagonal (are almost all horses right
hoofed?) you will make the weak side stronger and
    balance out the horse more.<<<<

    >>>>I think it has more to do with handedness in the
rider not the horse. A right handed rider almost
always prefers the right diagonal so they'll make the
    horse stronger on that side.
I'm left handed and definitely prefer the left
    diagonal<<<<

That's what I try to focus on when I remember...to do
more posting on her weaker right side to strengthen
that side of her body. I think I've got that
correct...if the weaker side is the right than you
post using the right shoulder as your guide (do
realize some higher-level riders may say to use the
rear leg as your guide, right?).
I'm right handed and have never paid attention to
which side is easier to post. Thinking back on our
last ride, I find it easier posting on the left
(shoulder) diagonal. So is this really the rider or
the horse? She prefers my posting on the left and so
    do I...easier posting.

Val (hoping to do my first LD this coming year). Keep
thinking it would be nice to do a 50 to celebrate 50
years but don't have a horse ready for it yet.
