    Good point.  Even with the rope halters that don't have that metal tip....I dislike the end piece flopping around...we always tuck it back through the cheek piece anyway. I don't like it flopping anywhere near their eye.

    I have noticed in our local tack shops a number of rope halters with a metal tip copper or siver crimped onto the end where you tie.
    My mare shock her head wearing one of these and the metal piece hit the eye. The vet bill was expensive and she always shadowed with that eye.
    Quality halters are spliced with no metal parts at all. It is safer for the horse
