    [RC] Vague symptoms - Sundaez

    Hi Ridecamp...

thought I'd turn to you guys since you've helped me so much in the past.

Something is not right with Jenni, one of my Icelandics. It's not wrong enough to call the vet cause I really don't know what I'd say...just a feeling he isn't right.

9 days ago we went on a three hour training ride. Lots of hills...but took it easy. At the half way point I got off to give him a break and he wouldn't eat the treats he ALWAYS eats. He had been balky during the ride but I thought he was sour. He was gassy and passing mushy green.

Once home, he wouldn't touch his beet pulp/grainricebran soup. His gut sounds seemed ok but I gave a shot of banamine to be on the safe side. No temp and HR was fine. I watched him throughout the night. No rolling...just sort of inward. He was fine the next day.

Rode Saturday (after almost a week off) and again he wsa picky about his food after a ride. Nibbled at his hay which is not like him. Normally in the trailer he starts eating immediatly. No other symptoms...HR fine.

Today 10 mile ride. Again he was balky going out. Usually this horse is VERY forward. He perked up towards the trailer though, but again refused to eat. At home he nibbled at his mash but ate hay.

So...I guess I would say he's become a picky eater suddenly..and a little sour. I'm not over training...I ride 3 times a week 8 miles at the longest...usually we are out just an hour or so.

Any of these symptoms raise a red flag? I have a ride this weekend (30 miles) and am wondering if I should go.
    TIA
