    I am aware that some people wonder why the USA and in
particular the AERC have very little influence on what the
FEI does.

According to the 1999 FEI survey of all countries
participating the total number of endurance competitors was
set at 30,900 persons. The total Northern and Southern
European competitors numbered 24,800 or 80% of the total.
The North American Continent had 500 competitors or a bit
less than 2%.
