im going to be using a standardbred mare that DOES NOT trot. She only
paces. Is that going to be an issue for my vetting? Or is pacing ok? I
dont want to find out that its going to be an issue.. thats why i ask this
now before i put the miles into her. Thanks so much:) >>
It shouldn't be a problem...but make sure you get the right vet! LOL I ride
a Standardbred and at one ride she got straight A's all through - except for
one vet at the midway point who said she looked "a little odd" at the trot.
Several people tried to point out that she was a Standardbred and so her trot
was very different from the 100 or so Arabs he had been watching all day.
(Mine is a trotter, not a pacer, but the gait is still pretty radically
different.) He stuck by his guns, and gave her a B. At the next VC, I asked
a different Vet to watch her carefully to make sure she was okay. LOLOLOL
He used to work at a track. Took one look at her, smiled, and gave her an
A+. Said "Ain't a thing wrong with that trot!" So you never know. It
SHOULD be okay, but being "different" can have its drawbacks! Good luck! Go
Standardbreds!!!
