    The 5 year old I took on her first 50 did grow up and she is now 26 and will be 27 in December.  The 7 year olds who went on their first rides with me are now 19 and still riding.  The 11 year old who did her first ride as a 50 and her second as a 5 day 250 is Heather, who won the Pan Am this year.  So far I see only successful adults who started riding endurance young.  Of course they did have the advantage of riding with me and not their parents.....mb
