    What?  Are you saying that 8 yo's can?  I don't see any logic to that when it comes to taking on understanding potential dangers.  My children try to cross the street where they shouldn't at the age of 8 to 10.  This doesn't mean that I have forbidden them from ever crossing a street again.  It is the parents responsibility to understand the risks and consent to them.  It is also their responsibility to make the decisions necessary according to their child's ability.  Not anyone else's!
