[RC] FW: How to advertise a race - Maryanne Stroud Gabbani
On November 1 or 2, depending on who you listen to, there is going to be
either an 80 km, 120 km, or 130 km endurance race that will be based
either in Giza or at Sakkara Country Club. Please note that if you
haven't been training your horse seriously you only have about a week to
get it into shape to compete for the wonderful prize money that will
undoubtedly accompany this equestrian extravaganza. The rumour mill has
it that the Egyptian Federation has known about this race for some time,
but somehow or other most of the riders in the Cairo have had no clue.
The best guess seems to be that this will actually be more of a show
than a competition (at least as far as the majority of Egyptian riders
who have not been in the loop are concerned) as it is being run by our
favourite government news agency and our favourite group of horsemen
from a relatively neighbouring country. Stay tuned for interesting
developments and a look at how endurance COULD be run if we were all so
lucky.
